# 2 col css design

so i’ve been playin w/ the 2 col css design.  
specifically one represented here [http://www.neuroticweb.com/recursos/2-columns-layout/](http://www.neuroticweb.com/recursos/2-columns-layout/)

in this example, they have a jpg as the bg-image in the .wrapper so that the content can grow w/ content in .side-b.  
but i noticed that the .side-a col doesn’t expand w/ the .wrapper that it’s in as the content in .side-b. I know the .wrapper bg-image masks this issue.  
any one know why .side-a doesn’t naturally grow (auto)?  
any way of fixing, other then having the .wrapper having the bg-image?
