a little more idea of what your site actually looks like could help!!
often people use a pic as their backgrounds, or maybe a gradient with some little details.
another option is to take advantage of the clean-ness of white, and so keep the white for a minimalist feel, but you’ll have to then make the rest of the site fit that feel…

Without knowing what your site is about, I would either go with a slightly different color, like off-white, or light blue, or something, just a tad bit different than white… or use white with a very faint texture added to it, or perhaps a small, non-overwhelming pattern, like a checkerboard, or diamonds, or something where the 2 colors are similar (like white, and pastel blue, or dark green, and dark blue, or something…)

I just changed the site from white - a nice light/darkish blue like in my signature. It’s goes really well.
