# A follow mouse mask

okae. so there’s this mask i’m making? and i cant get the object on the mask layer to move. i’ve tried

startDrag (“drag”, true);

and even

onClipEvent (mouseMove) {  
setProperty (this, \_y, \_root.\_ymouse);  
updateAfterEvent(mouseMove);  
}

but it still duzan seem to work. is it my flash? or isit something of flash’s dat disallow movement on the masking layer? the latter seems to be the case, so any solutions?

\< figured u guys might not understand so okae. my flash has 3 layers the first one is a long rectangle (the mask which i try to move following my mouse) 2nd is the masked layer of a coloured picture and the 3rd is one with the same picture as the second, but only its black and white. yea\> help pls

get yourself Flash MX and there won’t be any problems with masking!:beam:  
Flash 5 won’t let ya drag masks!  
But there is a way to drag a mask in Flash 5!

It’s a bit confusing at start but actually it’s very logical!
