Okay, I’ve decided to pick up coding in addition to my artistic pursuits and want to be able to add interactivity to my flash animations.

So far the only things I can do are set variables and basic movement, but I want to know more, enough so that I can create a game.
basically what I’m asking is what kind of game is nice and basic and can teach me a lot about coding as a beginner?

or should I learn key aspects separately then try to compile them into a game?
any help/tips would be nice :).
