Hi everyone-- got a question about external swf capabilities. Never worked with external swfs before, so I’m learning by doing.

My project is comprised of several external swfs that will load into the stage mcHolder after the appropriate button is pressed. Each swf is also divided into 5 separate stories. I wonder if it’s possible to provide different entry points into the swf according to which story the user wants to experience? I have first frame of each new story labelled in the original fla, but I wasn’t sure if those frame names carried over into the swf and thus could call those up somehow when the button is pressed.

Sigh. This is unfortunately the first of many questions I’m sure to have… so thanks for your help:)

Is this just a super-obvious question that I should know the answer to? Or is everyone else just as clueless as I am?

What you need to do is to have a variable in your main swf (where the buttons are) that will tell to the swf that is loaded where to go after that. Something like this:

```auto
var WhereToGo:String = "";
myButton.onRelease = function(){
   mcHolder.loadMovie("movie1.swf");
   WhereToGo = "frame10";//the name of the label where you want the "movie1.swf" to go after loaded
}
```

Then in your movie1.fla, simply put this in the first frame:

```auto
gotoAndStop(_root.WhereToGo);
```

Repeat the process to every other movie you want to load.
