Howdy y’all. I know this may have been asked before, but i was wondering what the best book is for learning ActionScript. I dont know too much, but i really want to learn.
Has anyone got any recommendations?

Try actionscript foundation fo flash MX by Friends of ed. But the publisher has closed down already so it’ll be very difficult to find one. 🙂 :beam:

“ACTIONSCRIPT FOR FLASH MX - THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE”
by Colin Moock
is pretty much THE book to read. It is published by O’Reilly Books.
I have tried to read other ActionScripting books to learn, but Mr. Moock, has organised this book in such a way, and explains everything in such clear detail , that you are bound to learn something new with every page. He even has an introductory section for non-programmers.
Give it read.

“Flash ActionScript for Designers: Drag Slide Fade”

Easy to follow, easy to understand. Some great things that you will be able to use again and again. 🙂 This book focuses on Flash 5, but I had no problem to follow any of the examples through on MX. They all still work like a Charm. The only problem I have with this book is that its a little too “spoon fed”.
“Macromedia Flash MX Game Design Demystified - The Official Guide to Creating Games with Flash”
Author: Jobe Makar
Publisher: Peach Pit Press

If you are into game design this one is a MUST! No “spoon feeding” done here. Chapter on Trigonometry 101, Basic Physics, Collision Detection, AI, and more. Everything is explained in a clear way that anyone should be able to understand.
By the way, the Colin Moock book is a MUST!

Moock’s is highly regarded as the essential AS manual. I’ve read it and what it doesn’t cover isn’t worth knowing.
