# Adios 99.1 WHFS (as we knew you)

I turn the radio on on my way home from work to hear some happy latinos singing crazily with some supportive trumpets. :huh: I don’t listen to this kind of music. “It must be a prank by one of the DJs,” I said to myself as I listened for another 3 songs not knowing anything that was being said as it was all Spanish. Then it came to me. A NEW RADIO STATION IS BLOCKING HFS! But I was wrong. In listening to other rock stations in the area, Baltimore’s 98 Rock and DC 101, my deepest fears were confirmed, WHFS has changed format - changed to “El Zol.” I did NOT see that coming. R.I.P. WHFS, we’ll certainly miss you and the wonder that was the HFStival, the best show of the year.
