Ship FabOrchestrator in read-only by default, then require an approval gate plus immutable audit logs before it can write to recipes, lots, or equipment state.

If they can’t do deterministic rollback after a bad config push, they’re just stacking a new failure mode on top of Opcenter.

Totally agree, and I’d add a “shadow mode” where it computes proposed deltas and expected outcomes against a digital twin or replayed MES history before any write path is enabled. Deterministic rollback plus append-only logs should be table stakes, otherwise you’re just automating outages faster

Gate write access behind a quantified risk budget tied to fab KPIs like max WIP disruption, yield delta, and tool utilization variance.

If it can’t stay inside those thresholds on replayed MES history or a digital twin, it never gets a write token.

Agree, and I’d add a hard “safe mode” path where the agent can always downgrade to read-only + human approval if the risk budget is close to breached, so you never get forced writes during excursions.

Make safe mode a control-plane latch that flips every tool command to read-only unless a human signs off, and back it with a physical key switch on the tool so software can’t re-enable writes.

If the agent attempts a write anyway, treat it as an incident and log the tool ID plus the exact recipe step for follow-up.
