A Caltech professor by the name of Goodstein has calculated the Hubbert peak for oil discovery / consumption, and we fortunate, or unfortunate depending how you look at it, have witnessed it.

For the short term people need to get over their fear and the myths surrounding nuclear power. It is the cleanest and most efficient energy source available to us.
