This should be easy to do, but I’m having a heck of a time.
I have a ring which has a cylinder dropped through the middle of it. There are dots on the ring that rotate as if they were inside the ring. I’m doing the dots with a movie clip and randomly start about a dozen of them when the cylinder is moving.

However, I would prefer to have the cylinder go completely through the ring.
The problem is that I’m having a heck of a time making the dots behind the cylinder (magnet) disappear when “blocked” by the magnet.
I can do the ring easy enough, since it is static… I need help getting the dots mc to “disappear” behind the cylinder and “reappear” when the cylinder is no longer in front.
Any suggestions? I don’t need hand-holding, just a nudge in the right direction.

I guess I’m going to do it in Swift instead. I was hoping for a Flash solution to keep the file size down.

make the cylinder into two layers, place the dots in between the two cylinder layers that should work.
