I hate the fact that giving someone a big fluffy soft toy is considered romantic.
I hate how flowers suddenly double in price.
I hate how a dozen roses can quadruple in price, so they’re now almost £80 instead £20.
I hate how chocolate becomes more expensive too.
I hate how you can’t get a table in a restaurant.
Alright, I don’t hate Valentines Day. I’m just bitter I never get any cards, d\*mnit! 😛

I hate how people with boy/girlfriends intentionally ask people who don’t what they’re doing on Valentine’s Day.

I hate V-Day period. There’s no point to it. If you can’t show the person you are with you love them the other 364 1/4 days of the year, how is this 1 day going to redeem you?
Can you not do these same special things on Anniversaries? Or how about birthdays?

I hate when people you don’t like ask you if you have a valentine. You say no…then when they ask you if you want to be their valentine…you have nothing left to say but in your mind you’re not saying no…you’re saying hell no.

I hate the same things Kit does…
Why the hell do things rocket in price? Because people are forced into buying this stuff or it seems like they don’t care, or don’t love their special person.
I also agree with Lost - if you can’t show you care on the other 384 days, then wtf?
While we’re on the topic of ‘love’ and all that comes with it - I HATE when people have “1 month anniversaries” or whatever the case may be. The word “anniversary” inherently deals with YEARS!

If someone you don’t like asks you to be your Valentine, just tell them, “Aww… I’d love to but… I don’t like you. Sorry” :trout:
Valentines day is a holiday were the rich get richer from the people who feel obligated to express their love through their wallet.
Can we pretend V-day doesn’t exist?

Trouble is I got my first card when I was 18 (because I was dating), and I was so annoyed at not having had even a joke one from anyone for the past 17 years, I didn’t appreciate it too much. 🙂

the first week I was with my gf, I explained that I will bring gifts to her at all times of the year. It may not happen on a month, or even year anniversary, but I will show my love every day of the year. I also have not ‘celebrated’ mothers/father’s day for 15 years. Every day is mothers/fathers day…
I would also hate to think that someone is paying attention to me out of either guilt, tradition, or by pressure…

I once custom built a teddy bear at a store for my ex for valentines day (when we were still dating). I spent almost $100 USD on it. Everyone thought I was the best boyfriend and was the most thoughtful.
But seriously, I did it because I was a crappy boyfriend.
Moral of the story: If your partner ever does go out of the way for V-Day, it’s most likely because they messed up.

My roommate bought rose petals, a hotel room for the night, bubble bath, candels, strawberries, chocolate syrup, whipped creme, a blind fold, small teddy bear, and half a dozen roses …
?!?!
They have been dating for 3 months :jail:

I am normally impartial to the holiday but this year it comes at a time where I am totally in love. I just got my gift from my sweetheart today and just the thought of her is overwhelming.
I’m a romantic so any chance I get to suprise my lady with something sweet and thoughtful I’m up for it. I think v-day should be every quarter or so.
