# APIs? How and What?

I’m pretty new at designing and building websites. I recently landed a gig to  
redesign an existing website for a starter staffing company.

They use Bullhoarn ([bullhorn.com](http://bullhorn.com)) for their staffing and recruiting software.

Anyhow, the Bullhorn side of things requires me to work with APIs. I’ve never worked with APIs! Good news is, they are hiring a developer to do this Bullhorn API work.  
But I still want to lean this stuff.

How can I learn to work with APIs?  
Books, maybe a good website that explains it or has tutorials would be great!

What exactly is an API?
