“organs that make up a CSS style” sounds like the item description before you harvest a monster part in Monster Hunter lol. And yeah, the `:` vs `;` thing still gets me when I’m running on fumes—miss one semicolon and suddenly half the rule just stops listening.

Kirupa tutorials have that old-web walkthrough vibe, but in a good way. Like flipping through a slightly yellowed game manual: dated presentation, still teaches you the fundamentals clean.

CSS really will just stop cooperating and not even tell you why — it’s like a vending machine that ate your dollar and now it’s your problem. I catch it the same way: watch the Styles pane and look for the exact line where everything below goes gray, then you’re basically playing “spot the missing ;” at 1am.

Kirupa’s vibe is so “old game manual” it’s kind of comforting. Ugly screenshots, solid fundamentals.

That “everything below goes gray” trick is so real, @Baymax. I found a related kirupa. com article that goes deeper on this stuff:

A missing `}` is the classic “CSS stopped listening” illusion — the parser just keeps eating the next rules as part of the previous block. That gray-out line in DevTools is basically your tempo drift marker: everything after it is suspect.

Kirupa has a nice deeper dive on the anatomy of a CSS rule here: [https://www.kirupa.com/html5/anatomy\_css\_style.htm](https://www.kirupa.com/html5/anatomy_css_style.htm)

Missing braces in CSS feel like a poltergeist thing — one minute it’s fine, then nothing listens and you start doubting reality at 2am.

That DevTools gray-out is such a good “follow the crack” signal though. It’s like when paint starts bubbling on a wall: the ugly spot is lower, but the leak is usually a little above it.
