# as3 super

Hi,  
I have developed several programs… and several flash as3 websites, but even now i struggle to understand the purpose of “super()”.  
I have never used it in OOP and a problem has never occured. and its not making any sense what so ever. when do i need to use it?  
a simple explanation will be awsome
