# Basic xml flash gallery: button question

Hey all- just got introduced to this site today… love it! Will definitely be linking here from my site 🙂

Anyway, I’m working with the basic xml gallery tutorial titled ‘Create a Photo Gallery’,  
and everything it walked me through worked great, but I want to make an alteration and can’t figure it out. I’ve inserted an image to help me explain:

Example 1 is what I successfully produced from the tutorial. There are ‘next’ and ‘previous’ buttons that move the user sequentially through the images. What I would like to do though is create a setup as in Example 2.

For this example, let’s say I have 4 images to show in my gallery. Instead of having ‘next’ and ‘previous’ buttons, I would like to have 4 little buttons that, when clicked, load the corresponding image. This would allow users to jump between images as they pleased.

I looked at the thumbnail gallery tutorial thinking I could just designate my little icons per image instead of the typical thumbnail, but it seems there should be a more basic way? I mean, the arrow method comes so close… but instead of going back 1 or up 1, I need to tell it exactly which image to pull.

Sooo yah. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
