# Best search engine program or script?

I need a rather small but fast search engine for my site, it’s a local site _intranet_ and be able to search the whole site including .pdf word, excel files aswell as pictures and of course html docs. etc…

can anyone recommend one?? iv’e found a few on [hotscripts.com](http://hotscripts.com) but don’t know which one best suits me…and i wanted to see if anyone has used these scripts on their own sites or projects and how well they preformed _overall_

I’m coming back to this again, i have been having some truble, i need a search for my work site, and i have no idea how that was done or where to get started the scripts on the net are sooo \*\*\*\* complicated to config, that i might as well make my own, in which case, what do i need to know???
