# "Best Structure..." XML button menu mod?

Hi. I’ve doing a mod to Kirupa’s button menu found in _The Best Structure for your Flash Site_ tutorial [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/best\_structure\_flash\_site.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/best_structure_flash_site.htm) I have updated the code & the XML to handle user defined spacing, pressColor, releaseColor & releaseOutsideColor, but I’m kinda stuck on doing the rolloverColor, and on cleaning up resetting the textcolors in the OnRelease function in frame 4.

After drowning Flash’s help system, I figure there’s probably at least a couple of different ways to do the rollover thing, but one of my goals is to try and work within the existing code model. So I was wondering if someone might offer some advice on which direction I might go with it.

1. I notice that when I run Debug that OnRollover var in the buttons is “undefined” and am not sure why. Maybe this is an indication of the source rollover problem?

2. I figure that using the “amcButtons” array the way I have is a cludge (& I’m not that impressed with the flicker). It seems to me that the “image\_mcl” movieclip is acting like a

but I’m not sure how to loop thru the sub-objects to change the textcolor in the OnRelease functon.
