# Broken psd file

Two part question, the first being is there any way to repair a psd file? My computer locked up on me while working on a project and although I had saved the file a few minutes earlier after I rebooted and tried to reopen it I got an error message saying not compatible with this version of photoshop.

Second question, does anyone know of a way or program to convert psd files into a workable version for other image editing programs like fireworks or paint shop pro? What I mean is preserving any layers, transparencies, etc, to use from one program to the other?
