# Button ActionScript Issue

First off let me say Hello!

I apologize if this has been answered before, but please bare with me…

On any buttons I create in my current .fla, Flash will not allow me to add any actionscript.

When I select the button itself (I verified that they are symbols set to button) and it displays “current selection cannot have actions applied to it”

Even when creating a new symbol from scratch as a button, it will not allow me to add actionscript.

I am also making sure that I am in my main timeline, and not selecting a frame or non-button object.

Please advise! I feel like a total newb, but I am completely baffled!
