# Button trouble

hi,

I,ve just started learning flash. I found the lessons very helpful, and was able to create an animation. But I can’t seem to get the buttons to work. I can create buttons in the lessons workspace blindfolded now, but when opening a new movie from scratch, the buttons aren’t becoming ‘links’. I draw a shape, select it, make it a symbol with button behaviour, I do the over, hit etc. thing, but when returning to the movie workspace, they don’t become 'finger’mouse pointers like in the lessons workspace. What am I doing wrong???
