I made a few buttons in Photoshop that I want to use for my flash site. I placed them in and lined them up using the X and Y co-rds and my eye.

When I go to publish, the buttons appear distorted, one kind of like it has been stretched 1px upwards, another on mouseover looks like it was stretched 1px horizontally.

What do you think is wrong? I checked my images and they are not stuffed, and the dimensions match up in MX.

The history button just seems wrong, and if you put your mouse over the stats you see it kind of stretch.

I also un-checked that allow smoothing button and its on Lossness PNG/GIF for compression.

Cheers

the way I see it is that the height of the hstory button is a bit too big and the k9 stats button is fine but when I rollover it then the s (“k9 **s** tats”) width decreases and the button’s width decreases too! :-\

well, i dont think its flash on the history button, thats too big of an increase i think. you might want to go back and look to make sure its not a pixel off in the height of that instance. on the other button when it shrinks, ive been having that same problem and i cant seem to find a fix?

I double checked every size with that of the images, and I double checked the images are ok on their own.

I just don’t get it ☹

Try this, in photoshop, give your button images a 3-5 pixel transparent margin all around. The buttons will still look the same, but now has a transparent border which will help it from being distorted when you bring them into flash. I had this problem too and that was how i solved it. Hope it helps. =)

hmm…ok try this then, in flash set all of your button images to a alpha of 97, see if that works.

nope

but i have narrowed it down to this. They are fine UNTIL I convert them to symbols. As symbols, they get as stuffed up.

But I want them to be links. Any way around it?

Well i dont know how you can apply a link to them if they’re not symbols, not that i know of. Could you post a fla containing your buttons so i could play around with them, maybe i could help. =)

Here you go darthpingu, I fixed it for you, the problem was that your images need a width and height of a odd number, it cant be an even number. For example, your original history button has a width=91 height=30, I adjusted the canvas height=33 and left the width=91 since its already a odd number. I did it to the rest of the buttons in the your fla so now it works fine. Flash tends to stretch things by 1 pixel sometimes. Now all you gotta do is change the canvas size to the rest of your images. Here is the fixed fla. =)
