# C++ | VBasic and MySQL intergration

Simply  
I need to write a small aplication to run as a standalone app on a computer; that can search for account numbers on my web server database and retrieve information about that account. Both for XP and Pocket PC’s

Is C++ or Visual Basic better…  
How generally would I go about interfacing with the database? [what libraries etc]
