# Camtasia Studio vs. Macromedia Captivate

For my work with online tutorials I use both Camtasia and Captivate to produce material (which I then export to/as Flash). I’m fairly new to both programs so I suspect I’ve only just scrateched the surface so far… but it seems to me that both programs have severe draw-backs… for my purposes anyway.

To me, as an old school webdesigner, working with either program feels like being forced to create a website using Front Page. Sure, there are some nifty features and time savers, but to get what I want in the end there is a hell of a lot of clean-up to do. 😉

I was hoping to hear from other users of these programs (holding my breath that I posted in the appropriate place). Or people who have found alternative software solutions to these two.

What do _you_ use these programs for… and what are the major pros and cons in your opinion?
