Does anybody know if a flash movie can create/save files to the viewer’s computer?

My project is this: I am creating an online course for a school I work for. The activity will allow students to drag-and-drop objects onto a canvas and create a scene. The students then need to either:

1. save the scene as a pic to their computer then submit to the teacher

or…

1. submit the scene as a pic file to a remote location directly

Are either (or both) of these options possible? If so, how?

Thanks for your response.
