# Can I open this in illustrator?

Hi,

Can I open an SWF file in illustrator? I can’t seem to figure out how to do it. One of my co-workers said, “Yeah, I’ll give you this SWF and just open it in illustrator and get the different layers like that”. Does this make sense?

I don’t think it can be done, I’m afraid. Your co-worker maybe thinking of an swf decompiler which breaks out the images and scripts used.

Decompilers are somewhat frowned upon due to the obvious copyright issues - however such tools could be regarded as good learning aids.
