# Cant write files

Alright, yesterday, all of a sudden, i lost the ability to write files in php coder and notepad.  
When i save, its shows it saved (of any file type), and if i go to open, it shows it exists (but cant open it)  
However it doesnt really exist in any other thing, like windows explorer.  
I have not downloaded any new software, it just magically happened.  
Any ideas?  
I have a piece of junk 5 year old computer, could it just be its dying?  
I need to fix this !
