I have a book on the shelf called “Color Harmony for the Web”.

It’s been helpful in working with print stuff occasionally as well. Despite the bland title, it’s a really good book. It’s something like 180 pages and starts with background on color (psychological effects, color trends, etc.) then moves on to a _lot_ of color combination swatches in categories like “nostalgic”, “earthy”, “romantic”, “energetic”, “classic”, “calming”, “elegant”, and on and on. It even tosses in hexadecimal conversions for all of the colors.

If you do a search for “color harmony” at Amazon, you get matches for a whole series of books the same publisher has put out that I like a lot as well.

oh yeah…you should take a peek at the “Color Index”, too. I’m a big big fan of all of the “Index” books they have out.

Word to your mother.
