Hi!

I just installed the trial version of CS3 (I am glad that the trials work again… 😃 ). Until now I only used Flash MX and I thought it would be time to upgrade… 🙂

Right now I am working on a PHP/MySQL-Project with a Flash-based control panel. This application comes with it’s own web- and database server. Is there any way to let Flash find out if the server is running (as localhost)?

And how can I use this information to control the display of two different mc’s like: if server is running show mc1, if server is not running show mc2?

Actually I believe that it would be enough to check if the webserver is running instead of testing if both servers are alive, or? And if I really would like to test both, wouldn’it it make sense to make a PHP-file wich tries to connect to the database and to use the result of this try in Flash by loading the PHP file?

Would that be a first idea for a solution? I do not want you to write all the necessary AS, but some first thoughts, ideas, hints or links to tutorials are highly appreciated! 🙂

Thanks in advance
