# "Creating a Simple Flash 8 Animation" tutorial doesn't work for me

OK I’ll try to be as detailed as possible to eliminate confusion, so have patience!

 I'm a total rookie to Flash (started yesterday for the first time...yay!) so I decided to follow the tutorials on this site, which has been super fun so far but I got stuck at the 
 "Creating a Simple Flash 8 Animation" tutorial page 2(see link below) between point "iv-vii" where I'm supposed to have a smooth transition with the "#" sign from left to right between frame 1-10.

But when I move the pink timeline from frame 1 to 10 it only changes the “#” between frame 9 and 10(in which the symbols jumps all the way back within one frame).

I also don't get that long "arrow" symbol between frame 1 and 10 as shown on the picture before point "vii".

Have I missed something earlier in the tutorial or is the tutorial not detailed enough?  
I’m a proud owner of Flash CS5.5 by the way…could it be that Flash 8 tutorials don’t work well with Flash CS?
