hi

I was wondering what the best method is for creating vector real-looking representations of people for flash. I’ve seen some good examples (don’t have links though, mainly in TV comercials and MTV), is it usally done by importing a photo and rotoscoping it or is it done in another app perhaps in 3d then imported?

I don’t need a lot of animation on them, just arms moving.

Thanks

just the ability to draw them well. That is the only tool you need. Be a good animator.

for “real-looking”, yes, rotoscoping is still pretty common. Theres also tracing bitmap in Flash - converting an image directly from raster to vector - Adobe has an app that does this as well though its name currently escapes me.

there is another way, if I understand the question, to do this.

[ayoungkim.com](http://www.ayoungkim.com)

in the above site, I used Adobe premier to break up the mpeg into jpegs, then with Fireworks, exported them as 4 color gifs via batch process, then brought them into Flash, where I used Trace Bitmap…

It is time consuming, but it works quite well.

I believe it’s called Adobe Streamline, but I don’t think they make it anymore. You can still use the latest version of it which is 4.0 I think.
