gradient mesh is the keystone of illustrator ā€¦ by nixing that, youā€™re nixing most truly ā€œdetailedā€ vector illustrationsā€¦ unless i donā€™t understand what oyu mean by ā€œno mesh workā€ ---

Iā€™m after stuff thatā€™s more hand drawn than mesh. I want to see what people can do without the gradient mesh šŸ™‚ ---

All of the most detailed vector illustrations use the gradient mesh, itā€™s a pretty standard tool. Not like it does anything for ya. ---

I know, I agree itā€™s a valid skill, being able to use the gradient mesh, and no thereā€™s certainly nothing automatic about it. However, itā€™s VERY different from drawing, completely different, and far less spontaneous. So this thread is more about detailed work in more of a traditional, hand drawn sense. ---

When I put a pencil in my hand it spews gradients. :lol: Seriously though, your work is great, I like it, especially the flower and that dudeā€™s beard. :thumb: ---

šŸ˜› Thankyou Ano. The beard, my god friend, that was a true endurance test. I said to myself, Iā€™m going to make this beard really detailed, then after a couple of hours of non stop drawing Iā€™d hardly done anything at all, and I thought holy \*\*\*\*, what have I got myself into, but I didnā€™t want to quit, I couldnā€™t turn back, Iā€™d already started, so I just plowed onā€¦ and onā€¦ and onā€¦ Needless to say, it took an incredibly long time. The flower was the most recent commission I had, that took a while but was far easier than the beard. Illustration has been my line of work recently, but I am actually in the process of moving BACK into Flash, and thatā€™s why Iā€™m here šŸ™‚ Iā€™ll still take Illustration work though. Anyway, seeing as I seem to be outnumbered and what not, Iā€™m going to allow gradient mesh stuff šŸ˜ƒ Have an impressive piece of mesh work? Post it here šŸ˜ƒ ---

Thereā€™s a lot of good stuff out there.
