# Detect mouse click without clicking on a button or movieclip

Hi,  
I’ve got the mouse pointer as a torch, and I want it to be turned on and off when the user clicks the mouse, but I can’t figure out how to detect the mouse click when the user isn’t clicking on a movieclip or button.

Thanks for any help!
