# Event model in flashmx 2004 pro

hi everybody, i have a question: are there differences in the event model supported in flash 2004 pro in respect the previous versions?

not really - though it depends whether or not you’re using inbuilt objects/methods or creating your own.

Callback methods are still commonly used, especially in the core objects in Flash (things like MovieClip, LoadVars, XML etc.) however the listener/broadcaster approach is being used much more heavily in MX04 especially with components. In F5 anf MX, AsBroadcaster was used to handle these events, however MX04 now has the eventDispatcher which operates a little differently and has more options.
