# Fade effects

i am making a page, and i am wondering how i would add a fade effect so that when i press the button to link it to another page, it would fade out, then fade back in. currently, all the different pages are set up as frames, and the button that links to them is a simple go to and stop command. how would i do this? any help would be very umm, helpful

Are you trying to fade the buttons or the pages itself? And if you could, could you describe what you want a little bit more? How are your pages set up?

what i want it to do is to make it so wehn you click on a link, i want it to fade out the page and the fade in a new page. how would i accomplish this.

well i know wot u mean but im \*\*\*\* at explaining this but here goes.
on ur button have the actions
something like
on(release)
gotoandplay(framewotever)
then dunno how it does it
gotoandplay(framewotever2)
in frame wotever
u will have the loaded page fading out
in frame wotever 2
u willl have the new page fading in
or use tell target but i aint got a clue bout that i just know u can

Sorry for the slow response Glassman, I did take a look at your page and I know what you mean. I was wondering if you could zip up your fla file and post it here so I can take a look at it? It will help me if I can actually play with it.

here is the .fla file of the page. it is quite small, so i didn’t find the need to zip it.

wow your fla was a mess, but I cleaned it up and applied the fade tweens. You should start the habbit of making things on seperate layers. I noticed you had a bunch of stuff on the same layer so it’s really confusing. Here is your fla, I hope that’s what you wanted. =)

No problem Glassman, what I did was just place each section you had on seperate layers of their own and converted each group to movieclips so that I could alpha fade tween them. It’s pretty straight forward so I’m sure you’ll figure it out. =)
