# Fading text tutorial not working in Flash 8?

So simple bit of fading text as per the tutorial ([http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/fadingtext.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/fadingtext.htm)) plays and looks perfectly in flash8 its self if you just hit enter.

however if you try publishing it or viewing it with ctrl+enter the text doesnt fade simply slides.

Am i missing an option somewhere to enable it to save out the alpha state’s of symbols to the finished .swf ? or is there something more complex to it than that.
