# File Access Flash vs Java Applet

Hi,

The functionality I’m trying to achieve is a drag from local file system onto hit area of site for upload.

I know and have seen this done with Java Applets. Can it be done with Flash? Do they not both run in a similar security sandbox? Would seem odd if Java could but flash couldn’t (even if requiring a security prompt to the user).

I’ve been looking around for the answer for a bit, wondered if someone here already knew.
