Flash 8 is currently in development and its codename is 8Ball. There has recently been a lot of dicussion about what this release will include and who it will be geared toward. The last two releases of the Flash IDE have been focused on developers. Therefore, according to Mike Chambers of Macromedia, 8Ball will be focused on designer enhancements.:bounce:

Mike talks about this at his blog. You can read it

Designer enhancements huh… _rubs chin_

I want to see something like: Photoshop & Flash in one!

That would be great… :pleased:

I hope they come back with the Normal Mode for typing in simple AS 🙂 It’s much easier to use stuff like getURL when all you have to do is just point, click, and type a few things hehe.

They have to, so many people complain about that it would be like a slap in the face not to.

I think the recent versions of Flash (mx2004 + pro), is way to advanced for a beginner to learn.

I learned Flash 5, and when MX came out I was stunned. I didn’t know what to do!

Once you learn actionscript I don’t think it matters which program you use, I prefer mx2004 pro (I love components).

Voets and I were having a chat, I think it’s time for me to learn AS.2.0 🙂

Anyway, can’t wait for 8Ball to drop (reminds me of those 8ball jackets back in the day)

I wonder if MM will release screenshots of their new beta/alpha version of the program? I figure a few pre-release screenshots would help give them some extra publicity and comments for their upcoming product 🙂

They talk about it for like 3 minutes… so not much info as you might’ve guessed. **56K viewer beware!**

If you’re gonna watch it, or… listen to it, you might want to fast forward to: **00:38:38** (I think that’s about the time they talked about it) Again, it’s not much.

 t3h t3rminator 4! wow!!

I actually did something similar for the release of MX. I posted a picture of a Flash 5 screen grab and didnt change anything but the title - and not convincingly; I actually took a red pencil in photoshop and crossed out the 5 and drew in a 6. I got hassled by some higher ups warning me about posting beta screens 😛

hmmm i dont get how they can aim it towards designers, i thought flash was all about its unique code…actionscript? the only way i can see them doing it is like what someone mentioned up there is by combining features found on photoshop into flash. But also isnt flash known for its vector graphics? if they combined similar to photoshop features it would probably ruin it…i dont understand how macromedia will pull this one off :sigh:
