# Flash newline in variable text file

I am loading information into flash MX via a text file that presents variables like:

&myVar=a bunch of text

but when I put one blank line between text, it shows up as two in flash, and putting text one line below other text leaves one full blank line. How can I get flash to represent a single blank line in a text file as a blank line in the text fields in my flash website instead of flash doubling everything? Thanks.
