Hello, This is my first post. I am having the hardest time trying to get AS to play from within a MC called “content\_002”. Please remember that this AS is an XML-Driven sub-menu that successfully works on it’s own. When I tie it into a MC, it doesn’t like to work with my shifting main-menu. For this post, I’ll first send the “combined” .fla file then I will post them apart to see if anyone can find a better way. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Finkster ---

don’t tell me you have stuck something inside an MC, then don’t understand why it isn’t working the path is different \_root. is also a classic, when you place an MC in an MC, you need this.\_parent, or this \_root will point to whatever is the base container file … ideally what you should be doing is have all the code on the base timeline controlling every MC from there as a universal point of reference, (although I usually don’t) ---

Just a heads up… My “ignorance” here is comming from the code “main-menu” that was previously created by someone else. I’m just trying to fit the “sub-menu” into it to expand the look. I just do not know how to tie the two togather. Hope that helps. ---

you have code **\_root** [‘bt’+i].\_y += i\*22; the root is wrong, it should be **this** instead \*\*this \*\*meaning the MC it is in, in other words “here” ---

Note: Quotes used here are not in the code. In the actions of “content\_002”, I entered “this.” behind the lines that started with “\_root” and nothing changed. I figured that the play head was already there at this time, so I then replaced “\_root” with “this” and that didn’t work either. From the “combined” file that I have sent, did it work for you? If so, please let me know if I left something out. Maybe there is a completely different way to go about this??? Thanks for your help! ---

What gets me is that when I am in that scene, I test the scene and it plays fine! I just cannot get it to play nice with the sliding menu when it all plays! Anyone??? ---

Is it just me or is there no way to use two scripts with “i++” in the same file??? -Update: They can be played together. I lined them up on the same timeline and they play fine. BUT I cannot get the ■■■■ sub-menu to play within the MC of the main-menu!!! Is this a challenge or what??? ---

Does anyone have any ideas??? I don’t mind thinking outside the box as long as I achieve the same effect. Files are provided at the beginning of this post. Desperation is setting in… ---

Thank you randomagain for trying to help. As for this post, my problem is still not solved. I’m about to give up on this look and try something else. I thought that this would be fairly easy for someone who knows more than I do (which isn’t hard to do). ---

strange as it may seem that’s why people get paid for coding things if you can’t figure it out… pay someone to do it for you. ---
