# FlashMX04 grid mask question

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this: I tried the Fading Grid tutorial here ([http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/fadegrid.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/fadegrid.htm)) and it works fine, but I want to use this effect as a mask. Can anyone direct me on how to do that? With the current script, the bg has to be white because the box for the grid is white; but I want to use it in a movie with a gradient bg, with the image unmasking using the grid effect.

I’d appreciate any help on this. Thanks.
