# Ford production car posts historic Nürburgring lap

Ford just put a production car ahead of every other street-legal vehicle ever at the Nürburgring, with only three full race cars posting faster laps on the track.

That is a wild benchmark, though Ring times still feel most useful as a snapshot of tires, aero, and setup as much as the car itself.

Fastest lap is real, but the better signal is whether the car can repeat within a second after a few heat cycles because one-ring hero runs can hide a lot.

One clean lap matters less to me than coolant, brake, and battery temps on lap three, because that shows if the pace is usable and not just optimized for headlines.
