# Freelancer tax question

hi,  
for those of you that make all your income as a freelancer, what percentage of your total earnings(from all your 1099s) do you have to give up for taxes?  
20%? 30%? 40%?  
what state do you live in?  
also, what do you get deductions from that are not obvious?
