# getChildAt(x).numChildren

hi there, i have this issue. i know that in “**stage.getChildAt(0)**” position, there is an object called **my\_mc**. but when i try : **getChildAt(0).numChildren** flash exports this **error** “access of possibly undefined property numChildren …”  
if i try **my\_mc.numChildren** it works. but i need the other way! any ideas? thanks in advance
