# Getting variables from the URL

I’m working on a website in which I have links that use variables. i.e. [http://www.whatever.com/id=1](http://www.whatever.com/id=1)

my question is, how do I get that id variable into my flash movie so I can manipulate my movie according to the id number? I’ve tried a bunch of ways, but can’t figure it out. Thanks.
