# GitHub expands funding for open source security work

GitHub says it’s putting more money and support into open source security by funding maintainers, working with Alpha-Omega, and widening access to tools so the supply.

Good move, because the real bottleneck is maintainer time and boring security work rarely gets done without steady funding.
