# Good and bad gradients... what's the difference?

Hi,

I want to use a gradient between two colours for the background of my website. The thing is, whenever I preview it in my browser window, I can see the different “steps” of the gradient to reach the other colour, which is not nice. Let me illustrate:

1. Good gradient: [Monokai.nl](http://www.monokai.nl/site.php)
2. Bad gradient: [test](http://www.mathieudepuydt.com/temp/splash.html)

I don’t know if you can see it on every monitor, but I’m talking about the horizontal lines that shouldn’t be visible.

Is there any trick to get rid of those? Or is it because of the colours?
