# Graphic Design and Current Education Standards?

I came across [**this**](http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=475003#post475003) thread and I began thinking of how brutal I think the education system is. I know that when I was in college I was pretty bored and found my classmates work pretty laughable. I took cartography, which although isn’t graphic design, it deals with many of the same principles and quite a few graphic design courses are required. I’ve never claimed to be the best and I’ll be the first to admit that my work isn’t amazing but I seriously think that the standards in graphic design are way too low.

Anyways, I want to hear what you guys think because even when I did receive high marks I never felt like I deserved them. I thought that the standards for grading were just too low and even now I see other graphic design students work and I shake my head when I see A’s for what should be C’s or D’s.
