# Help me with camcorder purchase

dont know much about camcorders…yet…im gonna buy a sony i know that (im a sony fan)…  
i want a miniDV for family stuff…maybe work into flash apps and whatnot…who knows…  
i narrowed it down to TWO…

sony DCR-HC42 ($599)  
Imaging Device: 1/5.5" Advanced HAD™ CCD  
Video Actual Resolution: 690K Pixels (what does this mean anyone?)  
Zoom Ratio (Optical): 12x  
Zoom Ratio (Digital): 480x

or…

sony DCR-HC90 ($999)  
Imaging Device: 1/3" Advanced HAD™ CCD  
Video Actual Resolution: 2050K Pixels (what does this mean anyone?)  
Zoom Ratio (Optical): 10x  
Zoom Ratio (Digital): 120x

money is kinda an object…but not really…i can splurge if the camera is THAT much better - but dont think so…what do u think?
