# How do you change the layer of something?

Say i drew something simple - a circle - under layer “A”. How do i change it to be under layer “B”?

Hi,

If you have already inserted layer ‘B’ then select what you want to move from layer ‘A’ and cut it. Then lock layer ‘A’ so it can not be selected and click on the stage this should select layer ‘B’ unless you have more than just those two layers of course.

Then from the edit menu select paste in place to put your object in layer ‘B’ in exactly the same place as it came from layer ‘A’.

Then unlock layer ‘A’.
