# How to get the browser language setting into flash?

hello there,

well, this is my debut here at kirupa and after reading through some of your tutorials and posts i got a notion that i’ll like it here …and of course i do have a problem that i hope you can help me with :cowboy:

i’ve build a little flash movie that let you select your language settings (amongst other things) before you enter my web site. now i would like the flash movie to look up the prefered language settings of the clients browser to make a preselection for the user and to show the explaination text in his prefered language.

In my simple mind i imagine to pass this information as a variable while the flash movie gets invoked. But i don’t know how to get this info. Do i need a nifty little javascript for this?
